DE-CLUTTER & DE-PERSONALISE
Your goal should be to accentuate your space and now is a good time to get rid of, throw out, donate – sell etc. anything that you no longer use, need or is broken. If you have furniture that you want to keep for your next home or whatever, then hire a shed and put it into storage. Remove all items that are personal ie photos, sport trophies etc. etc.
A coat of paint is one of the best investments you can do when reselling – use neutrals as they work with everything and they are non-offensive and easy for buyers to imagine their own furniture fitting in – don’t forget decks, a coat of oil or decking paint and do not forget the FRONT DOOR!!
Make sure everything is working – inside and out. Broken door handles, garage doors, electric light switches and fittings, lights and light bulbs – kitchen cabinet door and draws – bathroom & kitchen taps – make sure everything is in working order - all windows are opening and closing. Lights are important so make sure all the globes are working as they are important when agents are doing ‘open homes’.
CLEAN & CLEAN AGAIN
Everything – windows, security screens, louvers, fans and air-conditioning units – mirrors, tiles and very importantly shower screens & grout in bathrooms, laundry, kitchen - decks & patios cleaned with mould killer – glass pool fences & make sure all and garden pathways and all outside concrete paths and driveways are clean and not slippery when wet!!
Lawns mowed, front gardens mulched. The front of the home should look inviting and well maintained.
You only get one chance to make a good first impression!!!
